Teaching Experience

I have worked with the Hamilton High School Marching Band for three years now, working individually with students, with groups in sectionals, and even leading full brass at times. I built a rapport with the students over the years through continued support, and compassion. Before I left for home, a student pulled me aside and said:
"Mr. Stegman, I was going to quit this year. You were the reason I came back."

Conducting

Conducting is a subject of great interest to me. There's so much non-verbal education that can be communicated through conducting. In future, I plan to attend several conducting symposia to hone my skills on the podium to better lead and collaborate with my class of young musicians.

I have worked with Talawanda, Fairfield, and Mason on all of their instrument try it fairs. I fitted trumpets, trombones, saxophones, flutes, and clarinets.

Teaching Experience

Through coursework at Miami, I have gotten field experience at Garfield Middle School, Creekside Middle School, Winton Woods Middle School, Franklin County Middle / High School, and Sycamore High School. From one on one flute lessons, to small group cello and bass instruction, to full band ensemble conducting, I have had a variety of quality teaching practice in unique environments.
